The engagement season

Your first conscious moment as an engaged couple.

Being engaged is more than the phase between “yes” and the wedding day. It is a chapter of its own: light, exciting, a little chaotic and full of love. And it often passes without you truly pausing.

An engagement session is the chance to pause right here. Not because everything has to be perfect, but because it is real. Many couples tell me later that the session was their first conscious moment as an engaged couple.

Simply, purely us.

Minutes after the yes

An evening above the rooftops of Vienna.

A summer evening at the Juwel, high above the city. A harp is playing, the question has been asked, the yes has been said. A few minutes later A. & I. stand on the terrace, St. Stephen's Cathedral behind them, a new ring on her finger.

Images like these cannot be staged. You can only be prepared and be there when it happens. Photographing the newly engaged means the emotion is already there, I just have to hold on to it.

The side effect

The best rehearsal for your wedding photos.

After an hour in front of my camera you know how it feels: guided, but never staged. You know my rhythm, I know your dynamic and how you touch when nobody is watching.

On your wedding day I am no longer a stranger with a camera, but a familiar face. Many couples book their engagement session for exactly this reason.

How it works

From first call to gallery.

First call

We get to know each other and talk about your ideas. I also help with outfits, with concrete examples: wear what makes you confident, not what one wears for photos.

Location & light

Vienna has countless places that tell stories. We choose one that means something to you. And good light is no accident: I plan ahead where the sun will be, ideally during golden hour in the early evening.

The session

From one hour, at one or several locations. I guide you with small, real gestures: walking, laughing, pausing. After a few minutes the camera is forgotten.

Your gallery

Within a few days your online gallery with at least 50 photos is ready. A small preview arrives even earlier.

Good to know

Frequent questions about engagement photos.

When is the best time for engagement photos?

Whenever you feel ready. Right after the proposal or a few months later: what matters is that it feels right. If you love natural light, choose the early evening, warm, soft, honest.

Where in Vienna can we shoot?

The classics are the Burggarten, the Volksgarten and Schönbrunn, and they work for good reason. But Vienna can do more: quiet nature in the Lobau, urban walls along the Danube Canal, a rooftop above the city center. The most beautiful spot is one that means something to you, your favorite café, the place of your first date. The scenery underlines the mood, nothing more is needed.

What should we wear?

Wear what makes you confident, not what one wears for photos. Coordinated works better than identical: natural colors, flowing fabrics, clothes that move with you. Better avoid strong red and neon, those colors cast tints onto the skin. And a practical tip: comfortable shoes for the walks, Vienna's cobblestones are merciless. You change right before the first photo. We discuss your outfits in detail before the session.

Do we need a permit for the photos?

Good question, and hardly anyone asks it: professional photography in Vienna's public spaces can require a permit, especially with a tripod and larger equipment. I take care of that in advance. You need to think of nothing but each other.

We are both camera shy. Can you help?

That is what most couples tell me at the start. You do not have to perform or pose, I guide you with small, real gestures: walking, laughing, pausing. After a few minutes the camera is forgotten and you are simply yourselves.

Is the session available as a gift card?

Very much so. An engagement session is a special gift, not just photos but an experience. I design the vouchers individually, with a personal message and lovely packaging on request. More about the gift card.

Can we turn the photos into an album?

Absolutely. Many couples create their own engagement album, handcrafted in Italy with materials made to last generations. From “we say yes” to “we said yes”. More about the album.

Still planning the proposal?

First comes the question of all questions.

A surprise proposal needs good planning: the right location, the right timing, everything handled quietly in the background. In Vienna there are two names I trust. Both bring me in discreetly as the photographer when needed.
